Kishoreganj sees 53 new dengue cases

The dengue situation in Kishoreganj is raising new concerns as 53 more people were admitted to hospitals in the district with dengue in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 31 patients were discharged after receiving treatment.

According to information released by the District Civil Surgeon’s Office on Saturday, 143 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the district.

According to the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, 1,715 people have been admitted to hospitals with dengue in Kishoreganj since January this year. Of them, 1,572 have recovered and returned home.

No dengue-related deaths have been reported during this period.

Currently, the highest number of patients are receiving treatment at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital, where 38 patients are admitted. Besides, 19 patients are undergoing treatment at the 250-bed General Hospital, 33 at Bhairab Upazila Health Complex, seven at Bajitpur, five at Karimganj.

nine at Kuliarchar, six at Hossainpur, three at Pakundia, two at Katiadi, three at Nikli, four at Tarail, nine at Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital and five at President Abdul Hamid Medical College Hospital.

Statistics from the Health Department show that while new patients are being admitted to hospitals every day, many are also recovering after treatment.

However, the admission of 53 new patients in a single day highlights the need to further strengthen mosquito-control, cleanliness and public-awareness activities to contain dengue.

Health officials said it is important to remove stagnant water promptly, keep homes and surrounding areas clean, and protect oneself from mosquito bites during the daytime.

They also advised people not to ignore dengue symptoms, including fever, and to seek medical advice promptly.
