3rd APBn recovers 89 lost phones, Tk 41,520

The Cyber Crime Unit of the Operations and Intelligence Branch of 3rd Armed Police Battalion (APBn), Khulna, has recovered 89 lost mobile phones and Tk 41,520 lost by victims through bKash fraud and handed them over to their rightful owners.

The phones were recovered from different parts of the country in September 2026 based on general diaries (GDs) filed with various police stations, according to 3rd APBn.

The unit also recovered Tk 41,520 that victims had lost through bKash fraud during the month.

The Cyber Crime Unit was formed on the directives of 3rd APBn Commanding Officer Additional DIG M M Salahuddin. It works on cases involving illegal arms and drugs, recovery of lost mobile phones, and Facebook and online fraud within the battalion’s area of operation.

Additional DIG Salahuddin handed over the recovered mobile phones and money to their rightful owners on Wednesday.

The unit also rescued a victim based on a GD during the period, 3rd APBn said.

The unit’s activities are being supervised by 3rd APBn Deputy Commander Police Super G M Abul Kalam Azad (PPM), Police Super Ramananda Sarkar, Additional Police Super Yasin Ali and Assistant Police Super Md Ali Nawaz under the direction of the commanding officer.

Speaking during the handover, Additional DIG Salahuddin said greater public cooperation and a positive response would enable the unit to provide legal assistance to more victims.

3rd APBn said its Cyber Crime Unit is working to assist victims of lost mobile phones, online fraud and bKash scams through legal procedures.
