Dhaka Bank wins ADB’s ‘Leading SME Trade Bank’ award for 3rd consecutive year

Dhaka Bank PLC Deputy Managing Director Akhlaqur Rahman receives the "Leading SME Trade Bank" award from Asian Development Bank (ADB) Head of Trade and Supply Chain Finance Steven Beck and South Asia Unit Head Neha Noronha at the 12th TSCFP Awards in Singapore recently.

Dhaka Bank PLC has been named “Leading SME Trade Bank” at the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) 12th Trade and Supply Chain Finance Programme (TSCFP) Awards in Singapore, marking the bank’s third consecutive recognition under the programme.

Dhaka Bank Deputy Managing Director Akhlaqur Rahman received the award from ADB Head of Trade and Supply Chain Finance Steven Beck and South Asia Unit Head Neha Noronha at the awards and partners dinner held on recently, attended by around 200 representatives of financial institutions from different countries, according to the press release.

The award recognises Dhaka Bank’s performance in facilitating international trade and expanding access to trade finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Receiving the award, Akhlaqur said, “This recognition is a proud moment for Dhaka Bank and a testament to our continued commitment to bridging trade finance gaps, empowering local businesses and enabling greater access to international markets.”

“We remain deeply committed to working with global institutions such as ADB to create opportunities for businesses and contribute to sustainable economic progress in Bangladesh,” he added.

Dhaka Bank has participated in ADB’s TSCFP as an issuing bank since 2009, facilitating cross-border trade and helping connect local businesses with international markets.

Through the programme, ADB works with partner financial institutions to address gaps in trade finance, particularly in developing economies where businesses may face difficulties accessing financing for international trade.

Dhaka Bank said the latest recognition reflects its contribution to supporting Bangladesh’s trade transactions through the partnership, particularly SME participation in international commerce.

The bank said its continued involvement with ADB’s TSCFP has also helped strengthen its engagement with an international network of financial institutions while supporting trade-related business opportunities.

The 2026 award follows Dhaka Bank’s recognition as “Leading Partner Bank in Bangladesh” at the ADB TSCFP Awards in 2024 and its receipt of the “Momentum Award – Issuing Bank” in 2025.

Guided by its motto “Transforming Together”, Dhaka Bank said it remains focused on providing financial solutions that help businesses connect with international markets and contribute to employment and sustainable economic growth in Bangladesh.
