Rani Mukherjee loses her mother

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee’s family is in deep mourning after the death of her mother, former singer Krishna Mukherjee.

She breathed her last at age of 75 in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. The news was confirmed in an official statement by the production company ‘Yash Raj Films’.

Rani’s family has requested for their privacy during this difficult time and prayers for the peace of Krishna’s soul.

Krishna was not only the mother of a star child, she was also a renowned playback singer in Bengali and Hindi film industries.

She has lent her voice to popular films like ‘Momer Alo’, ‘Haiwan’, ‘Teesri Chokh’ and ‘Tomar Rakte Amar Sohaag’.

Krishna was the wife of late Ram Mukherjee, a famous producer-director and one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios.

Krishna was also sister of National Film Award-winning Bengali actress
Debashree Roy.
