Woman’s body recovered in Debiganj

Police recovered the body of a woman from a paddy field in Balapara village of Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh district on Friday morning.

The deceased was Hasina Begum, 45, wife of Nur Sheikh of Balapara village.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Bimal Chandra confirmed the incident and said it would be determined after receiving the post-mortem report whether Hasina was murdered or died by suicide.

According to eyewitnesses, Hasina left her house on Thursday night to attend an invitation at a neighbour’s house. However, she did not return home.

The next morning, some local people found her body lying in a paddy field and informed Debiganj police.

On receiving the information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
