Remittance inflows cross $2b in 3 weeks this month

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent US $2.063 billion in remittances during the first 21 days of September in fiscal year 2026-27, according to official data released by Bangladesh Bank.

This ($2.063 billion) reflects a 1.6 percent growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year when the country received $2.031 billion in remittances.

On a single-day basis, remittance inflow stood at $69 million on September 21, 2026.

Earlier in August, rising more than 22 per cent year on year to $2.97 billion, which was $2.86 billion in July this fiscal.

With this latest inflow, the country received US$7.888 billion in workers’ remittances during the first 83 days of the current fiscal year, marking a 13.8 percent increase compared with US$6.930 billion received during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

The latest data showed that workers’ remittances continued to maintain a positive growth trend in the current fiscal year, supporting the country’s external sector and foreign exchange position.

The steady growth in remittance inflows provides continued support to the country’s foreign exchange reserves and broader macroeconomic stability.
