Today’s scholars are tomorrow’s leaders DMP Chief
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Saturday urged meritorious students to develop themselves as responsible, capable and ethical individuals whose achievements can inspire others and contribute to Bangladesh’s future.
He made the call while addressing the DMP Scholarship-2025 distribution ceremony at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium, where he handed scholarship money to the recipients as the chief guest.
A total of 437 meritorious students received scholarships this year. Of them, 249 students at the secondary and higher secondary levels received merit scholarships, while 188 students pursuing higher education received education support scholarships.
“You have to build yourselves in such a way that one day you can become a source of inspiration for others,” the commissioner said.
Congratulating the recipients, Mosleh wished them a bright future and continued success in their academic and personal lives.
He said the future leadership of Bangladesh would emerge from among today’s meritorious students, with some expected to lead important sectors, create new knowledge, serve people and contribute to national development.
The commissioner encouraged the students to pursue excellence while maintaining honesty, humanity, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility towards society and the country. He said a scholarship should not be seen merely as financial assistance but also as recognition of a student’s talent, hard work, perseverance, dreams and potential.
“The success of the meritorious children of DMP members is a matter of immense pride and joy not only for their families but also for the entire Dhaka Metropolitan Police,” he said.
Highlighting the sacrifices of police families, Mosleh said DMP members often work around the clock to ensure public safety, spending long periods away from their families, including during festivals and other important occasions. “DMP members work day and night to ensure the safety and security of people.
They perform their duties in scorching heat, rain, late at night and even during festivals and other important occasions. At times, they have to remain at their workplaces when their families are observing important moments together,” he said.
He added that the support, patience and sacrifices of police families played an equally important role in enabling police personnel to fulfil their responsibilities.
“The success of their children is one of the greatest sources of motivation behind these sacrifices,” he said.
Urging the scholarship recipients to look beyond the award, the commissioner asked them to use the recognition as motivation to achieve greater success.
“Your talent and hard work are being recognized through this scholarship. Take this recognition as an inspiration for achieving greater success in the future,” he said.
He expressed hope that the students would eventually become leaders, innovators and change-makers.
Senior DMP officials, including additional police commissioners, joint police commissioners, deputy police commissioners, additional deputy police commissioners, assistant police commissioners and officers of different ranks, attended the programme.
Family members of DMP personnel and the scholarship recipients were also present.
