Every Child’s Safety

Children in many areas face unsafe routes when travelling to and from school.

During busy hours, roads near schools become crowded with cars, motorcycles and other vehicles.

Several school routes lack adequate pedestrian facilities, forcing children to cross roads amid moving traffic.

Some are compelled to dash across busy roads, increasing the risk of accidents.

Many children also have to walk alongside heavy traffic because some schools lack proper footpaths and designated pedestrian areas.

This makes their daily journeys both difficult and dangerous. Such conditions may also discourage parents from allowing their children to walk to school.

The relevant authorities should take immediate steps to improve pedestrian safety around schools by installing proper zebra crossings, footpaths and clear pedestrian signs.

These basic measures would significantly reduce the risk of accidents and give parents greater confidence in allowing their children to travel to and from school safely.
