2 army soldiers killed in Hathazari firing accident

Two Bangladesh Army soldiers were killed and an Army officer was seriously injured in an accident during a field firing exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram on Wednesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate confirmed the incident in a press release issued today.

According to the ISPR statement, the accident occurred while shells were being fired from a tank during the firing exercise.

“During a firing exercise today at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram, an accident occurred while shelling from a tank, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers of the Bangladesh Army and serious injuries to one officer,” the statement said.

Following the accident, the injured officer was rescued and provided with emergency treatment. He was subsequently being transported by helicopter to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for advanced medical treatment, according to the ISPR.

The ISPR said necessary measures have been taken to investigate the cause of the accident.
