President calls on BGB to take action against drugs, smuggling, and border killings

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to take more effective measures to stop smuggling, drug trafficking, push-ins, and border killings. At the same time, he praised BGB’s work in carrying out the vital responsibility of guarding the country’s borders.

He made the call during a courtesy meeting with BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui at Bangabhaban on Monday. The President’s Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam confirmed the details.

During the meeting, the BGB Director General extended his sincere congratulations to the President on assuming office. He also briefed the President on the force’s overall activities and its initiatives to integrate advanced drones and modern technology to strengthen border surveillance.

The President said BGB plays an extremely important role as a vigilant guardian in stopping smuggling, drug trafficking, and human trafficking at the borders.

He praised BGB’s initiative to incorporate cutting-edge technology into the force for border protection and assured his full support in this regard. The President’s secretaries and senior officials were also present at the meeting.
