1,855 family planning jobs cleared till 2027
The Health Ministry has extended until June 30, 2027 the recruitment clearance for 1,855 posts under the Directorate General of Family Planning, covering positions from Grade 11 to Grade 20.
The fresh decision allows the Directorate General of Family Planning to proceed with recruitment against the posts during the extended validity period, official sources said on Saturday.
The Health Education and Family Welfare Division under the Health Ministry recently issued a letter in this regard, signed by its Joint Secretary Muhammad Abdul Hossain. According to the letter, the recruitment clearance was originally granted through three separate orders issued in 2019.
Its validity was extended following an application submitted by the Directorate General of Family Planning on June 25, 2026. Of the 1,855 posts, 1,667 posts in 17 categories are available at the headquarters level of the Directorate General of Family Planning. Another 188 posts in four categories are available at the district level.
The headquarters-level positions include Medical Technologist (Laboratory), Family Welfare Visitor, Office Assistant-cum-Computer Typist, Physiotherapist, Research Assistant, Assistant Librarian, EPI Technician, Telephone Operator, Ward Master, Birth Certificate Copier, Ticket Clerk, Ventilator-cum-Mechanic, Cinema Supervisor, Radio Copier and Cardiographer.
The Medical Technologist (Laboratory) position is in Grade 11, carrying a pay scale of Taka 12,500 to Taka 30,230.
The Family Welfare Visitor post falls under Grade 14, with a pay scale of Taka 10,200 to Taka 24,680. The Office Assistant-cum-Computer Typist position is in Grade 16, with a pay scale of Taka 9,300 to Taka 22,490.
At the district level, the vacancies include Family Planning Assistant (FPA), Family Planning Inspector (FPI), Family Welfare Assistant and Aya.
A total of 188 vacant posts in these categories are available for direct recruitment.
The recruitment clearance also covers Office Support Staff (MLSS) and Cook Helper positions at the directorate level. The Office Support Staff post is in Grade 20, carrying a pay scale of Taka 8,250 to Taka 20,010.
The ministry has imposed several conditions on the recruitment process.
The concerned authorities have been instructed to complete the recruitment process transparently and in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
However, direct recruitment will not be permitted against posts that have fallen vacant because of promotion, transfer, retirement, dismissal or other reasons.
The letter clarified that recruitment can be made only against vacancies designated for direct recruitment.
The authorities have also been instructed to provide the concerned division of the ministry with recruitment-related information within 15 working days after completion of the recruitment process.
The letter further stated that recruitment against the posts must be completed within the extended validity period, meaning by June 30, 2027.
The decision has already been communicated to the Director General of Family Planning for implementation.
