9 robbers held in city

Detective Branch (DB) of Police in a drive arrested nine members of a robber gang from Diabari area under Turag Police Station in the capital on Friday night.
They also recovered gold ornament and local sharp weapons from their possessions.
The detained person are ringleader Ibrahim, his accomplices Md Al Amin, Md Siddik, Alamgir Md Riazuddin, Md Khijir Ahmed, Md Shahidul, Abdur Rob and Abdul Halim.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muntashirul Islam said this in a press briefing at the media centre in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
The police official said that a team of DB Police conducted a drive in the area following information around 11:30pm and arrested the robbers.
The arrested gangsters reportedly revealed during preliminary interrogation that they were members of an inter-district gang of robbers, the DC said. They were involved with various robbery incidents in Ashulia and different areas of Dhaka city and Narsingdi district, he said. A case was filed in this connection, the police official said.
