Andaleeve vows sincere service

Information minister seeks public support as he takes charge

Newly appointed Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaleeve Rahman Partho has sought public support as he prepares to assume responsibility for a ministry facing a broad range of communication and information-related challenges.

The minister said he hoped to carry out his duties with honesty, dedication and sincerity, while stressing that he would need time to assess the ministry’s responsibilities and practical challenges after formally taking charge.

“I seek prayers from the people of the country that I can work with honesty, dedication and sincerity,” he told journalists on Saturday afternoon after paying homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.

He made the remarks a day after taking oath as a minister at Bangabhaban.

Asked about the challenges he expected to face at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Andaleeve said he had only just been given the responsibility and would begin work at the ministry the following day.

“I have just been given the responsibility. I will start working at the office tomorrow. Once I go to the ministry, I will understand the extent of its responsibilities and what practical problems it faces,” he said.

The minister expressed optimism that he would be able to discharge his responsibilities effectively with the cooperation of colleagues and the wider public.

He said working together with the people of the country would help him carry out his responsibilities successfully.
