Geneva Camp top criminal Chua Selim held
RAB-2 has arrested Geneva Camp-based alleged top criminal and drug trader Selim Ashrafi alias Chua Selim from Mohammadpur with a pistol, two rounds of ammunition and drugs.
The Rapid Action Battalion said on Friday that Chua Selim, who faces 36 cases involving murder, drugs, arms and other offences, was arrested during a raid at a secret location inside Geneva Camp.
RAB-2 Commander Naymul Hasan disclosed the arrest at a press conference at the RAB-2 headquarters on Friday morning.
He said an intelligence-based operation was conducted at a secret location in Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur, leading to the arrest of Chua Selim.
During the operation, RAB members recovered a pistol, two rounds of bullets and drugs from his possession, according to the commander.
RAB alleged that Chua Selim had long been involved in drug trafficking, operating a drug syndicate, fighting and other criminal activities in Geneva Camp and surrounding areas.
The force said 36 cases had been filed against him on allegations including murder, arms and drug offences.
RAB-2 had previously arrested him from the Dhanmondi area on January 8, 2025, the force said.
Naymul Hasan, however, expressed frustration over Chua Selim securing bail after being arrested in previous cases.
According to RAB, Chua Selim had remained involved in criminal activities in and around Geneva Camp for a long period, including alleged drug trading and violence.
His latest arrest came after RAB received intelligence about his presence at a secret location in the camp.
