The humiliating thrashing Bangladesh’s cricketers received from the Australia Cricket XI in the warm-up match, there were genuine fears about how much they might struggle in the Test match.

Hasan Mahmud appeared in devastating form right from the start, tormenting the Australian batters. He was joined by Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain.

Hasan Mahmud delivered a career-best bowling performance, claiming six wickets.

This marked the first time a Bangladeshi bowler took a five-wicket haul on Australian soil.

He was destructive in the second innings as well. At the start, he bowled both Australian openers. He broke the back of the Aussie batting lineup by claiming three crucial wickets.

After restricting Australia to 198 runs, Tanzid Hasan Tamim stole the show when he came out to bat in the first innings.

Batting with composure and patience, Tamim steered his innings to the three-figure mark, becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to score a century on Australian soil.

Next up is Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Among the Bangladeshi cricketers, Miraz consistently delivered notable performances.

His contribution to this Test is in no way less than that of Hasan Mahmud or Tanzid Tamim.

Playing an innings of 65 runs off 154 balls and fighting with such bold defiance is no small feat.

Miraz single-handedly dismantled the Australian batting lineup in the second innings. The way he dismissed Steven Smith with a return catch was incredible.

Ultimately, he claimed five wickets. Australia was ultimately bowled out with a lead of just 56 runs, having been ensnared in the web of Miraz’s spin.
