Porwar warns party men over social media use

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar has urged party leaders and organisers to use social media cautiously and responsibly, warning that irresponsible conduct could damage the organisation’s image.

He made the remarks while addressing a three-day training camp for district- and city-level party leaders in Syedpur, Nilphamari on Saturday, organised by Jamaat’s Rangpur-Dinajpur region.

Porwar said the party had to deal with both internal and external challenges while carrying out organisational activities and responding to national issues.

He stressed that leaders should uphold party ideals and maintain good conduct to increase their acceptance among the public.

Porwar also advised party members to understand people’s problems, prioritise public welfare and demonstrate tolerance and wisdom when dealing with differences of opinion.

He said extra caution was necessary on social media, as mistakes or irresponsible posts could negatively affect the party’s reputation.

Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, who is also director of the party’s Rangpur-Dinajpur region, presided over the programme.

Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum also made a presentation on various issues during the training camp.
