One killed in N’ganj motorcycle crash

A retired Sonali Bank principal officer was killed after a speeding motorcycle hit him in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, on Saturday morning.

The deceased was Azizul Haque, 85, son of the late Hossain Ali Sheikh of the Jalkuri Taltala area.
The accident occurred around 8:30am in the Jalkuri Taltala area under Siddhirganj Police Station.

According to police and local residents, Azizul was walking towards a roadside tea stall after having breakfast, as he did every morning, when the speeding motorcycle hit him. He fell onto the road and sustained serious injuries.

Local residents rescued him and took him to Khanpur Hospital in Narayanganj. As his condition deteriorated, doctors advised that he be shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was later pronounced dead while undergoing treatment there.

Mohammad Emdadul Haque, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, said the family had applied for the body to be handed over without an autopsy.

“The application is being reviewed, and further action will be taken in accordance with the law,” he said.
His elder son, Md Aminul Haque, said, “As usual, my father was going to a tea stall after breakfast when a motorcycle hit him.

He sustained serious injuries. He was initially taken to Khanpur Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.”

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and trying to identify the motorcycle and its rider.
