PM to visit Ctg on 9 August

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Chattogram on Sunday to visit Hathazari, Fatikchhari and Banshkhali upazilas of Chattogram, which were affected by the recent floods.

This is his first visit to Chattogram after assuming office. In addition to visiting the affected areas, he will distribute relief, inaugurate rehabilitation activities and hand over the keys of new houses to the affected families.

One of the destinations of the visit is West Banshkhali. There, he will exchange views with the flood-affected people.

He will also formally hand over 100 new houses built by the government to the homeless families. He will also visit the affected areas of Hathazari and Fatikchhari to inquire about the locals and review the progress of the ongoing rehabilitation activities.

The Chattogram district administration, local administration and law enforcement agencies have started extensive preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Security is being strengthened at the possible visit sites, construction of helipads and preparation of necessary infrastructure.

All preparations will be completed after receiving the final program from the top level of the government, said the officials concerned.

The political arena has also been busy with the visit. Chattogram South District BNP Joint Convener Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa said that local leaders and activists have been given necessary instructions as per the central guidelines to make the Prime Minister’s visit a success.

They will also cooperate with the administration in distributing relief and managing public gatherings, and the main purpose of the Prime Minister’s visit is to deliver government assistance, said the concerned people.
