Kaliganj talent enlisted as Betar Nazrul singer

Supta Sen Ritu, a singer from Kaliganj Upazila in Gazipur, has been enlisted as a Nazrul Sangeet artiste of Bangladesh Betar after successfully passing the national broadcaster’s audition.

Her achievement has been widely welcomed by her family, teachers, well-wishers and local residents, who described it as a proud moment for the area’s cultural community.

According to family members Supta has been practising music for many years. Alongside receiving formal training, she has regularly performed at various cultural programmes.

Local cultural personalities said her success would inspire young people in Kaliganj to pursue music and contribute to the country’s cultural heritage.

Supta completed her primary and secondary education in her native village before passing her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations with distinction from the Government Music College in Agargaon, Dhaka. She is currently a second-year Bachelor of Music (Honours) student in the Nazrul Sangeet Department at the same institution.

She is the daughter of late Shyamal Chandra Sen and Sabita Sen of Chuariakhola village under Tumlia Union in Kaliganj Upazila.

Expressing her feelings, Supta said she had dreamed of becoming a singer since childhood and regarded her enlistment with Bangladesh Betar as a major milestone in her musical career.

“Music has always been my passion and my dream. With the support of my family, the guidance of my teachers and training under my guru, renowned Nazrul Sangeet artiste Chhanda Chakraborty, I have achieved this honour. I hope to continue presenting quality music and accomplish even greater achievements in the future,” she said.

Residents of the area expressed hope that Supta Sen Ritu would continue to bring recognition to Kaliganj through her musical achievements both at home and abroad.
