Gold prices up again
Within a span of three days, The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) has once again raised gold prices in the domestic market.
This time, the association increased the price by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold-inclusive of VAT-at Tk 2,23,074 per bhori. BAJUS announced this information in a notification on Friday morning (July 31). The new prices came into effect at 10:00 AM on Friday.
The notification stated that the price of pure gold (Tejabi gold) has risen in the local market. Consequently, taking the overall situation into account, new gold prices-inclusive of VAT-have been set.
According to the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold in the domestic market-inclusive of VAT-will be Tk 2,23,074 per bhori (11.664 grams). Additionally, the price has been set at Tk 2,13,043 per bhori for 21-carat gold, Tk 1,82,950 per bhori for 18-carat gold, and Tk 1,49,474 per bhori for traditional method gold.
BAJUS has announced that these new rates will remain effective across all jewelry establishments until further notice. However, making charges will apply based on the jewelry’s design. Since VAT is included in the selling price of the jewelry, it cannot be charged separately to customers. Additionally, existing BAJUS regulations regarding the buying, selling, or exchange of jewelry will remain in force.
Earlier, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on the morning of Tuesday (July 28). On that day, the organization reduced the price by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the price for 22-carat gold (including VAT) at Tk 2,20,857 per bhori. Additionally, the price was set at Tk 2,10,943 per bhori for 21-carat gold, Tk 1,81,200 per bhori for 18-carat gold, and Tk 1,48,016 per bhori for traditional method gold.
While the price of gold has been raised, the price of silver remains unchanged in the domestic market. Currently, one bhori of 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 4,607 (including VAT). Additionally, the price stands at Tk 4,374 per bhori for 21-carat silver, Tk 3,791 for 18-carat silver, and Tk 2,858 for silver of the traditional method.
