Actress Snigdha Chy alleges physical abuse
Model and actress Snigdha Chowdhury has alleged that she was physically tortured after being called to talk about a contract to act in an advertisement. Snigdha has made such allegations against Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, chairman of the Asian Group.
She said that Nazrul called her on the pretext of a meeting on July 24, abused her, tied her hands and feet and beat her. Snigdha filed a complaint with Khilkhet Police Station on Sunday night in this regard.
At a press conference on Monday evening, Snigdha said that she was called to the Asian Medical College office to sign an advertising contract. After reaching there, she faced an unexpected situation.
The accused mistook her for a completely different woman named Zeba Takia, a ramp model, and, out of anger, attacked her.
Snigdha further said that the accused intimidated her in various ways and physically tortured her by tying her hands and feet.
The actress said, “At one stage, he took everyone out of the room, tied my hands and feet and threw my phone away.
Then he grabbed my throat. He hit me in different parts of my body with a stick and threw me on the floor by grabbing my hair.”
Snigdha also alleged that hot coffee was thrown in her face. At one point, the accused went to another room and she managed to get out of there.
After that, she sought treatment at the emergency department of Kurmitola General Hospital.
The model-actress has demanded justice for Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan in this incident. She has threatened to commit suicide if she does not get justice.
In this regard, Khilkhet Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Sohrab Al Hossain said that they have taken complaint of the actress seriously and have started an investigation.
Subject to the investigation, appropriate action will be taken against the guilty persons immediately.
However, Asian Group has completely denied Snigdha Chowdhury’s allegations. In a statement sent to the media, the company claimed that the allegations against Chairman Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan are ‘completely fabricated, baseless and motivated’.
