Diomande set to join Real Madrid

RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is set to join Real Madrid after agreeing personal terms with the Spanish club following Paris St-Germain’s withdrawal of their interest.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international was a target for several European clubs, including Liverpool and PSG, but both failed to seal the deal.

Liverpool’s initial £69m bid was rejected in June and according to a BBC report, PSG also failed to secure the signature of Diomande after RB Leipzig turned down their £102.5m offer on Sunday.

According to various media reports, Real have since agreed personal terms, and the winger will sign a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

Yan Diomande is expected to travel to Madrid next week to complete the signing and medical.

Real Madrid will pay €120 million, including bonuses, for the Ivory Coast winger who joined Leipzig from Spanish club Leganes last summer on a five-year deal.

Leipzig have tried hard to keep Diomande in Germany but the player wanted a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it was also difficult to reject the interest – and potential record sale price – from Europe’s elite clubs, reports suggest.

Diomande was announced as the Bundesliga’s young player of the season for 2025-26, after scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists last term.

The player moved from his native land to an academy in the United States in 2025 before joining Spanish side Leganes.

Vinicius Junior is expected to leave Real should Diomande’s signing be completed next week.
