‘Zero tolerance’ against crime adopted in Khulna

Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md. Mostafizur Rahman has reaffirmed the police’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, smuggling, and all forms of crime during an exchange meeting with journalists.

Speaking at the meeting held on Sunday at the conference room of the Khulna Range DIG Office, Rahman said that improving the law and order situation has been his top priority since assuming office as the DIG of Khulna Range on July 7, 2026.

He outlined a series of initiatives aimed at eliminating narcotics, preventing drug abuse, curbing smuggling, maintaining public order, and tackling piracy in the Sundarbans.

The DIG also announced plans to launch coordinated “S-Drive” operations to prevent criminals from fleeing from the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) jurisdiction to neighboring police stations in Khulna district after committing crimes.

Rahman said crime prevention efforts would be strengthened through the integrated application of four policing approaches: intelligence-led policing, technology-driven policing, community policing, and traditional policing.

He called for the cooperation of both the public and the media in maintaining law and order, expressing hope that journalists would play a constructive role in making the Khulna Range free from drugs and all forms of crime.

Senior officials of the Khulna Range Police, along with journalists from various print and electronic media outlets, attended the meeting.
