‘Govt aims to resolve UAE visa bars’

State minister says expatriates’ frustration is justified after years of mismanagement and neglect
The government is working to resolve visa-related complications affecting Bangladeshis seeking employment in the United Arab Emirates, State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur said on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Nur said the government was aware of the difficulties and had been holding discussions with the relevant authorities.

“We are aware of the UAE visa complications. Discussions are under way with the concerned authorities to resolve the matter,” he wrote.

The state minister said the government remained committed to protecting the interests of Bangladeshi expatriates.

“If we can do something positive for our expatriates, it will be good for both them and the government,” he said.

Nur acknowledged that the frustration among expatriates was justified, citing years of mismanagement and neglect in the sector.

He said efforts to improve the situation had been under way since he took office, although resolving the problems could take time.

“Let us see how much we can achieve. It may take time, but I hope we will be able to bring positive changes,” he wrote.
