N’ganj LGED calls for regular cleanliness

Narayanganj Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Executive Engineer Mohammad Arifur Rahman said mosquito breeding grounds must be eliminated by maintaining regular cleanliness.

“Preventing mosquito-borne diseases requires more than relying solely on insecticide spraying.

Everyone must come forward to keep their institutions and workplaces clean to help prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases,” he said.

Under the slogan “Keep Our Surroundings Clean, Stay Healthy Together,” the LGED in Narayanganj organised a special clean-up drive as part of the government’s nationwide cleanliness and awareness campaign to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.

The programme was held on Wednesday at the Narayanganj LGED office, featuring a rally and a discussion session.

At the discussion, LGED officials urged people to refrain from dumping waste indiscriminately, dispose of garbage at designated places, prevent stagnant water from accumulating in and around homes, and actively participate in cleanliness initiatives.

Upazila Engineer Yasir Arafat said building a clean Narayanganj was a shared responsibility and that public awareness and responsible participation were essential.

“Indiscriminate dumping of waste must stop. We must keep our homes, roads and surrounding areas clean.

Everyone should also remain vigilant to ensure that water does not accumulate anywhere, as stagnant water provides breeding grounds for mosquitoes,” he said.

Later, LGED officials and employees took part in cleaning waste and garbage from the department’s premises and surrounding areas.
