I never imagined this farewell would be so long: Doly Shaontoni

Popular Bangladeshi playback singer Doly Shaontoni, who has been abroad for a long time, said in an emotional message that she never imagined that the time of farewell would be so long after leaving her beloved Bangladesh.

She is currently abroad mainly for her daughter’s education and a prosperous future.

On this special day, marking the completion of one and a half years of her exile, she has shared with her fans the difficult trials of her life, the betrayal of trust, and the longing to return to her homeland.

In an emotional post on Facebook, Doly wrote, “On this day in 2025, I left my beloved Bangladesh and set off for a foreign country. I never imagined then that this farewell would be so long.”

“I never thought that reality would take people through such difficult trials. But Alhamdulillah.

I am fine wherever Allah has placed me, thanks to His infinite mercy. The prayers of my parents, the love of my family, and your good wishes give me strength every day,” she added.

Drawing on her long musical career and the ups and downs of life, she further wrote, “I have never tried to harm anyone in my life. I have always wanted to stand by people.

I may have suffered from many people, been a victim of betrayal, but one thing has never changed, Allah has never disappointed me. It has been almost a year and a half since I left the country.

The biggest reason for my exile is my daughter’s education, her future. I just have one request to all of you: pray for her and for me.”

Expressing the longing for the country and the deep pain in the hearts of expatriates, Doly wrote, “I don’t know when I will be able to return to my beloved Bangladesh again.

Sometimes my heart cries for the country in a way that cannot be expressed in words.

Now when someone from Bangladesh visits me, it feels like I have touched a little bit of the smell of Bangladesh, a little bit of the soil of Bangladesh, and a little bit of my own people.”

Finally, she wrote, “Many expatriates like me may understand this feeling very well. No matter how far away, love for one’s country never diminishes. May Allah keep everyone well and safe. Pray for me and my family.

And I pray that all expatriates around the world may one day return to their loved ones safely and soundly.”
