Zubaida hails Milestone victims’ courage, humanity
Prime Minister’s wife and Vice-President of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation Dr Zubaida Rahman has said the courage, resilience and humanity shown by teachers, students and parents after the Milestone School and College air crash will remain a remarkable example for the nation.
Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion held in memory of the victims at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Tuesday, Zubaida Rahman said the compassion and sacrifice displayed during the tragedy reflected the true spirit of humanity.
She said the way people stood beside one another during the crisis was a rare example of courage and solidarity.
At the beginning of her speech, she paid tribute to all students, teachers, employees and others who lost their lives in the tragic incident, praying for eternal peace of the departed souls and expressing sympathy to their families.
A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara on this day in 2025, killing 36 people, including 28 students.
Zubaida Rahman said the sudden and devastating accident plunged the entire nation into grief and shock, adding that the country continues to share the sorrow of the victims’ families.
She prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and urged everyone to move forward by transforming grief into strength.
The Ziaur Rahman Foundation vice-president praised the courage and determination of injured students and teachers, saying their resilience would remain a source of inspiration.
She said their ability to overcome such a painful experience demonstrated the strength needed to face challenges in life and support others during difficult times.
Zubaida Rahman also thanked organisations and individuals who provided assistance during the crisis, including the Fire Service, Doctors Association of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman Foundation and the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
She also expressed gratitude for support extended by friendly countries, including the UK, China, India and Singapore, following the accident.
