Netflix buys Ben Affleck’s AI company

Hollywood star Ben Affleck’s AI startup Interpositive has been acquired by OTT giant Netflix for a whopping $587 million in cash, according to a federal filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Oscar-winning actor and producer Ben Affleck founded the startup in 2022, which has been operating in complete secrecy for so long.

Interpositive doesn’t just create new videos from text or prompts like typical generative AI; rather, its main goal is to use technology to facilitate filmmakers’ work.

The deal with Netflix brings Interpositive’s 16-member team of engineers, researchers and creatives to Netflix. Ben Affleck himself has joined Netflix as a senior advisor.
