154 nabbed in police drives

Rajshahi Range Police arrested 154 people and recovered a large quantity of drugs in separate operations across different districts of the range in the past 24 hours.

Police conducted the operations in various districts under the Rajshahi Range and also filed 120 cases during the period, said a press release on Friday.

Of the cases, three were filed over murder, one over dacoity, one over theft and one over violence against women and children, while 114 cases were filed under other charges. Police also received information about eight unnatural deaths.

Of the 154 arrested, 36 were wanted in warrant cases, four were convicted, 109 were accused in cases under investigation and five were arrested under other preventive measures. Among the arrested, 56 were drug dealers or users, the release said.

Police conducted 145 operations to arrest criminals and recover illegal goods during the period. They recovered 40 grams of heroin, 1,192 Yaba tablets, 518 Tapentadol tablets, 1.41 kilograms of cannabis and 360 litres of distilled liquor.

Besides, Rajshahi Range Police provided direct services to 1,047 people during the 24-hour period.
