



A 4- year old child named Md. Rabiul, died of rabies after eating biscuits thrown by a dog in Bhairab town in Kishoreganj on Friday.
The child’s mother Runa Begum also contracted rabies in the incident and is undergoing treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Dhaka.
Md. Rabiul, is son of Mizan Miah in Kalipur Dakshinpara of Bhairab port town. It is learned that on June 28, Rabiul was playing in front of his house.
At that time, the wife of neighbor Musa Mia gave biscuits to her pet dog. When the dog ate half the biscuits and threw the rest away, Rabiul picked them up and ate them.
Recently, he contracted rabies. His mother Runa Begum also fell ill. On Wednesday, they were taken to Ashuganj Upazila Health Complex and vaccinated.
When their condition deteriorated there, they were transferred to Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital l in Bajitpur, while on duty doctors advised them to be sent to Dhaka.
The child died on the way to Dhaka on Friday. His mother has been admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
In this regard, Officer in Charge (OC) of Bhairab model Police Station Md. Limon said, “A case of accidental death has been registered in the child’s death. Legal action will be taken after the investigation.”
