Milestone College authorities have filed a general diary (GD) against a former female student, alleging that she used the college’s identity card while making provocative anti-government remarks on social media.
The GD was filed with Turag Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Thursday (16 July) by the college’s security officer Muhammad Zahurul Islam.
According to the GD, the student, Rubaiya Mehzabin Suhi, had received a transfer certificate from Milestone College with approval from the Dhaka Education Board on disciplinary grounds. As she is no longer a student of the institution, the college authorities said she has no right to use its identity or materials.
The GD stated that a video circulating on social media showed Suhi wearing a Milestone College identity card while making remarks during a movement over HSC examinations and question papers.
The college authorities claimed that the video had created confusion among the public and damaged the institution’s reputation.
Turag Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman directed officials to take necessary legal steps, while Sub-Inspector Md Ariful Islam Rana was assigned to investigate the matter.
Police said no case has been filed over the incident so far.
The GD was filed amid ongoing controversy surrounding videos from the HSC examinees’ demonstrations on July 14, where students criticised examination arrangements, question patterns and the decision to continue exams despite adverse weather conditions.
