Janata, Dutch-Bangla sign digital payment deal

Janata Bank PLC and Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC have signed an agreement to make digital payment services easier, safer and more modern for customers.

Under the agreement, online transactions will be facilitated through Dutch-Bangla Bank’s Nexus payment gateway and Rocket, according to a press release.

The agreement was signed at Janata Bank’s head office on Tuesday.

Janata Bank Chairman Muh Fazlur Rahman CSP, Managing Director Md Mojibor Rahman, Deputy Managing Directors Kazi Abdur Rahman and Md Fayez Alam, Dutch-Bangla Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md Ehteshamul Haque Khan, and Deputy Managing Director Md Sahadat Hossain were present at the signing ceremony, along with senior executives from both organisations.

General Manager of Janata Bank’s Information and Communication Technology Division Mohammad Anis and Senior Executive Vice-President and Head of Branch Operation and Liability Division of Dutch-Bangla Bank Abdullah Al Masud signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Under the agreement, Janata Bank’s own payment gateway, JanataPay, will be able to receive online payments through Dutch-Bangla Bank’s Nexus debit card, Rocket, Visa card and Mastercard.

As a result, customers of e-commerce platforms, merchants and service providers connected with JanataPay will be able to complete online transactions more easily, quickly and securely.

The initiative is expected to play an important role in expanding digital financial services in the country, encouraging cashless transactions, and ensuring more advanced, secure and uninterrupted payment services for customers.
