BWDB gets Ruhul new DG

Ruhul Amin joined as the Director General of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) on 5 July 2026.

Before taking up the new position, he was serving as the Additional Director General (Planning, Design and Research) of the board.

Ruhul Amin obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1991 and later completed a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Dhaka in 2012.

He began his professional career at BWDB in 1993 as an Assistant Engineer (Civil). Over the years, he served in various important positions, including Sub-Divisional Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Additional Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer, successfully handling responsibilities in several key departments of the organisation.

During his more than 32 years of service at BWDB, Ruhul Amin participated in various seminars and training programmes in countries including Japan, Vietnam and Austria. He applied the knowledge and experience gained from these programmes to improve the board’s activities, according to an official profile.

Born in 1968 in Rajshahi, Ruhul Amin comes from a respected Muslim family. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
