Transparency, accountability must be ensured

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has said no corruption and irregularities in government work will be tolerated under any circumstances.

Transparency and accountability must be ensured at every level of the administration to sustain the country’s overall progress.

The state minister said this while addressing a views-exchange meeting as chief guest at Nandail Upazilla Auditorium in Mymensingh.Chaired by Nandail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fatema Jannat. The views-exchange meeting was attended by officials from various government departments in the upazila.

He said to ensure the country’s development and protect the rights of its people, the national interest must be placed above all. Yasser urged all to must work by giving priority to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s declared principle, ‘Bangladesh First.

He also said that elected representatives and government officials must work in close coordination to deliver public services to people’s doorsteps and ensure the timely completion of ongoing development projects while maintaining quality standards.

At the meeting, the state minister reviewed the progress of various development projects in Nandail Upazila in detail and instructed the officials concerned to take prompt measures to address the existing challenges.

Later, the State Minister distributed scholarships among students at a scholarship distribution ceremony organised under the newly established Education Assistance Trust.

Yasser said, We must ensure that no talented student is forced to drop out of school solely due to financial hardship.

The establishment of this Education Assistance Trust in Nandail is a timely initiative. Expanding the Trust’s coverage in the future to bring more students under its scholarship programme will play a significant role in nation-building.
