



Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and China Agricultural University (CAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, research, and academic exchange.
The MoU signing ceremony was held in the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat at BAU.
The partnership is expected to deepen the strategic relationship between BAU and CAU while fostering international collaboration in agricultural education, research, innovation, and capacity building. The cooperation will be further advanced through CAU’s College of International Development and Global Agriculture (CIDGA).
BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan attended the event as the chief guest. Also present were Professor Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science; Professor Dr. G.M. Mujibur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Professor Dr. Mohammad Amirul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology; Professor Dr. Xuili Xu; and Professor Dr. Chuanhong Zhang from the College of International Development and Global Agriculture (CIDGA), China Agricultural University.
The ceremony was also attended by Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Kader of the Department of Agronomy and Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam of the Department of Agribusiness and Marketing, who are serving as the local coordinators of the MoU and the CAU Hub at BAU.
The agreement establishes a framework for long-term collaboration between the two universities in academic and research activities. Areas of cooperation include faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, collaborative publications, professional training programmes, academic conferences, seminars, and other mutually beneficial initiatives.
Following the signing ceremony, the CAU Hub for Country and Region Studies in Bangladesh was officially inaugurated with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque on the third floor of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Agriculture at Bangladesh Agricultural University.
The newly established hub is expected to serve as a platform for strengthening academic networking, collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and regional cooperation between the two institutions.
