BFF gets two stadiums on Jamal, Maria’s new jersey unveiling day
The new jerseys of Bangladesh men’s and women’s football teams were unveiled through a special ceremony on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) organised a large-scale event at the Auditorium in National Sports Council (NSC) in the capital on Tuesday on this occasion.
And at this event, NSC officially allocated Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital’s Kamalapur and Sylhet District Stadium to BFF for 22 years.
Jamal Bhuyan’s team (Bangladesh Men’s Football team) will start the FIFA Asian Cup with a match against Malaysia on September 25 in Indonesia.
On the other hand, Maria Manda’s team (Bangladesh Women’s Football team) will start the Asian Games football event on September 14 in Aichi-Nagoya of Japan.
Their first match is against North Korea. Keeping this journey of the two teams in mind, BFF’s official jersey partner ‘Dour’ unveiled the new jerseys.
Talking about the story behind the jersey, Abid Alam Chowdhury, CEO of the ‘Dour’, said they received 1,300 designs from Bangladeshi football fans spread across the world. From there, 34 samples were selected and these jerseys were made.
The main theme of the home jerseys is the mother language. The big feature of these jersey, made with special technology and design, are those will dry in just 8 minutes.
Arrangements have been made to sell these jerseys in 165 Infinity stores in the country for the general audience.
Infinity is a local famous organisation, which used to sell modern dresses for men and women. There are lot of outlets of Infinity.
It can also be purchased online from the ‘Dour’ website. The fans can also buy the jerseys from the ‘Dour’ showroom.
The jersey that the players will wear costs Taka 1,600, while the jersey made for the fans costs Taka 700.
Pictures of Bangladesh men’s and women’s team Captains Jamal Bhuyan and Maria Manda respectively appeared on the stage screen wearing the new jerseys during the event.
President of BFF Tabith Awal highlighted the emotional aspect of the jersey and said, “The jersey is another flag of our country.
There are really few crazy football fans like Bangladesh in the world now. Our goal is to make the fans feel proud after wearing this jersey.”
State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque recalled his playing career and said, “In our time, there was no such event with the jersey. If we can promote the Bangladesh jersey properly, it will reach another height.”
The State Minister for Sports said the government has allocated a seed money of Tk 50 crore for the BFF, which will be kept in the bank and a large part of its profit will be spent by the BFF on its activities.
The government has allocated a total of Tk 1,244 crore seed money for the country’s 41 sports federations. In addition, the State Minister for Sports proposed to the BFF to organise football for expatriate Bangladeshis through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions of various countries.
After the jersey unveiling, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NSC and BFF. According to the MoU BFF will get those two stadiums.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Football Federation Imran Hossain signed on behalf of BFF and Director of Sports of National Sports Council (NSC) Zahid Parvez Chowdhury signed on behalf of NSC in the MoU.
Under this agreement, Dhaka’s Kamalapur Stadium and Sylhet District Stadium will be under BFF from now on.
Clarifying the matter, BFF President Tabith Awal said this is not a permanent transfer of ownership, the real owner of the stadiums will remain NSC.
The other federations will also be able to use them if necessary. BFF will mainly maintain it and build it according to its own convenience.
Kamalapur Stadium, of course, was already used for football games, now this stadium has been allocated to BFF on paper.
However, the allocation of Sylhet Stadium will be helpful in resolving BFF’s field crisis. The State Minister for Sports said more stadiums will be given to BFF in stages.
