



Police have arrested three members of an organized car theft syndicate following the recovery of a private car stolen from the Narayanganj court premises.
Based on information provided by the suspects, law enforcement officials also recovered two additional stolen vehicles, including one that had been stolen from Nangalkot in Cumilla.
The information was disclosed by Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi during a press briefing held at the district police office on Saturday (June 27).
According to the police chief, a complaint was filed after a private car parked inside the Narayanganj court compound was stolen at around 11:00 a.m. on June 26.
Following the complaint, Fatullah Police Station registered a case and launched an investigation.
Using intelligence and digital surveillance, police arrested the alleged mastermind of the gang, Muktar Hossain alias Mukta, 48, from the Delpara-Chitashal area of Fatullah in Narayanganj.
Based on his confession, police conducted another operation in Nangalkot, Cumilla, where they arrested two more suspected gang members Md Mominur Rahman alias Liton, 42, and Alauddin, 36.
Acting on information provided by the suspects, police recovered three stolen vehicles, including one that had been stolen from Nangalkot.
The Superintendent of Police said the three arrested individuals have a combined total of five previous criminal cases against them, including four cases related to vehicle theft and one narcotics case.
According to investigators, the gang targeted vehicles parked at court premises, parking lots, and isolated locations across different districts.
They allegedly changed registration number plates before trafficking the stolen vehicles.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether additional members were involved in the syndicate and to verify the ownership of the other recovered vehicles. Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are underway.
