Ex-MP Mosharraf Hossain passes away at 78

Former lawmaker from Lakshmipur-4 and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD-Inu) Vice President Mosharraf Hossain has passed away at the age of 78.

He died at a private hospital in Dhaka around 1:30am on Sunday while undergoing treatment, according to family sources.

A veteran freedom fighter, Mosharraf was elected to Parliament from Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgati and Kamalnagar) in the 1988 fourth national election as a candidate of the combined opposition.

He was a prominent student leader in the 1960s, serving as a central leader of the then undivided Chhatra League and vice-president of the student union at Dhaka University’s Shahidullah Hall.
