



Heavy rains, flash flood inundated different areas after rise in water level in several of haor areas, due to onrush water from upstream and continuous monsoon rains.
The water level of various rivers, including the Ghorautra and Dhanu, has continued to rise due to continuous rains for several days.
Parts of various roads and ferry submerged forcing the Roads & Highways Department (RHD) to suspend the ferry services on Monday afternoon adding to passengers suffering.
In this regard , RHD’s Executive Engineer of Kishoreganj, Mohammad Faisal said that, “The connecting road to the ferry pier has been submerged due to rising water levels. Therefore, ferry services have been suspended for the time being.”
It has been observed on the ground that the roads connecting several important ferry ghats connecting the haor areas of the district have been submerged due to the rising water level. Among them, Balikhola and Chhath Ghat in Karimganj, Shantipur Ferry Ghat in Mithamoin, Baribari and Balda Ferry Ghat in Itna, and Patuli Ferry Ghat in Bajitpur have been closed.
