20 injured in Mongla bus-truck collision

20 bus passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Mongla. 5 to 6 of them were seriously injured.

The injured have been sent to RampalUpazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital. The incident took place at Digraj in Mongla on Monday. Monish Chandra Gain, Officer-in-charge (investigation), Mongla Police Station said that on Monday, a Mongla bound passenger bus leaving Dhaka collided head on with a Khulna bound truck at Digraj on Khulna-Mongla Highway.

The front part of the bus was twisted completely. At that time, 20 passengers were injured. Five to six of them are in critical condition. They were quickly rescued and sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital. In addition, 13 to 14 other injured people have been taken to RampalUpazila Health Complex. The injured live in different areas of MonglaUpazila.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted after the accident. Later, the Fire Service and the Highway Police reached the spot and carried out rescue operation and traffic resumed normal. However, the Office-in-charge Manik Chandra Gain said, investigation is underway to ascertain whether the bus or truck was responsible for the accident.
