Railway Police seize 110 bottles of Eskuf

Railway police from Ishwardi Railway Police Station seized 110 bottles of codeine-based Eskuf syrup during an anti-narcotics operation on the Dhaka-to-Khulna intercity train Chitra Express. A woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The operation was conducted on Friday (June 12) at around 1:35 pm under the instructions of Pakshi Railway District Superintendent of Police Md. Mehedi Hasan and the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Railway Police Station.

A specialized police team carried out the raid based on confidential information.

According to police, the suspect, Mosha Rajoni Khatun alias Halima Khatun (35), was noticed behaving suspiciously in the corridor of Coach “G” of the Chitra Express. She was detained and taken off the train at Ishwardi Railway Junction Station.

During the search, police recovered 50 bottles of codeine-based Eskuf syrup from a black vanity bag in her possession and another 60 bottles concealed on her body using special techniques.

A total of 110 bottles were seized, with an estimated value of around Tk 330,000.

Rajoni Khatun is a resident of the Kundipur area under Darshana Police Station in Chuadanga district. She currently lives in the Asannagar area of Alamdanga Upazila.

A case has been filed with Ishwardi Railway Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. The seized contraband has been confiscated, and legal proceedings are underway.
