DMP files 1,831 cases for traffic rule violations

The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,831 cases for traffic rule violations in different parts of the capital.

The drives were conducted on Saturday as part of ongoing efforts to maintain discipline on Dhaka’s roads, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) NM Nasir Uddin on Sunday.

According to DMP statistics, 65 cases were filed in the Ramna zone, 155 in Lalbagh, 375 in Motijheel, 256 in Wari, 132 in Tejgaon, 305 in Mirpur, 346 in Uttara and 197 in Gulshan.

During the enforcement drives, traffic police impounded 301 vehicles and towed away another 215 for various traffic violations.

The highest number of cases was recorded in the Motijheel zone, followed by Uttara and Mirpur.

The DMP Traffic Division said such enforcement drives would continue regularly to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and improve road discipline across the capital.
