The announcement was made on Friday afternoon at a press conference held at the hospital in Moghbazar by Ad-din Hospital Director Md Tarikul Islam Mukul.
“We will fully comply with the decision taken by the DGHS regarding Ad-din Hospital’s Moghbazar branch. At the same time, we are ensuring and will continue to ensure that no patients suffer any harm as a result of this decision,” Mukul said.
Hospital authorities said they would submit an application within the stipulated timeframe, requesting the government to reconsider the cancellation order.
“We hope the government will take public interest into account and allow us to continue the hospital’s normal operations for the benefit of the people,” they added.
Mukul said the ward where the six newborns died had already been closed, and renovation and improvement work would be completed within the next three months.
“We are committed to completing all renovation and improvement work in that ward within the next three months,” he said.
The hospital authorities also assured that patients advised to transfer to other facilities would not face any difficulties or adverse consequences during the transition.
“We have always stood by our patients, and we continue to do so,” they added.
The DGHS recently cancelled the licence of the hospital’s Moghbazar branch following the reported deaths of six newborns, triggering administrative and public concern over neonatal care standards at the facility.
