Hugh Jackman to play infamous pirate in ‘Treasure Island’

After Wolverine, P T Barnum, Van Helsing, Jean Valjean and Robin Hood, Hugh Jackman is set to play another iconic character. He will play the infamous pirate Long John Silver in the new adaptation of world-famous British novelist Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel ‘Treasure Island’.

The film will be directed by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott. The screenplay is written by Emmy-winning British screenwriter Jack Thorne, who recently gained attention for writing the screenplay for the ‘Adolescence’ series.

Ridley Scott will also produce the film with Michael Prowse. Set in the 18th century, Stevenson’s ‘Treasure Island’ is one of the most popular and most adapted pirate stories in world literature.
