Tributes planned for Shirajul Alam Khan

Various programmes have been scheduled in Dhaka, Noakhali and Khulna today to observe the third death anniversary of Shirajul Alam Khan, described in a press release as a principal organiser of the Liberation War and founder of the Swadhin Bangla Nucleus.

The events are being organised by the Shirajul Alam Khan Centre and Research Institute.

In Dhaka, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at 9:30am on Tuesday at the Shirajul Alam Khan Centre, LM Tower, K-87 Joar Sahara Bazar Road, Baridhara DOHS Pocket Gate, Bhatara. Floral tributes will be placed at the portrait of Sirajul Alam Khan on behalf of the Centre’s Chairman Raihanul Islam Chowdhury.

Among those expected to pay tribute are Centre Director Mosharaf Hossain Montu, UK Bangladeshi community leader Nurul Amin, Professor Khaja Alamgir Hossain, Social Shakti central leader Mohammad Nazrul Islam and labour leader Nek Mohammad. A brief discussion meeting will follow the tribute ceremony.

In Noakhali, the Shirajul Alam Khan Centre and Research Institute, Noakhali, will place wreaths at his grave in Alipur village of Begumganj at 10:00am. The programme will be led by Bir Muktijoddha Golam Mostafa Bhuiya, one of the founders and General Secretary of Sonaimuri Blind Welfare Eye Hospital, and Abul Kalam Azad.

JSD leader Nur Rahman, VP Sattar, Comrade Momin Ullah, Sahab Uddin, labour leader Abdus Sobhan and leaders from different professions are also expected to attend.

In Khulna, the Sirajul Alam Khan Centre and Research Institute will organise a discussion meeting at 4:00pm at the JSD office, KCC Market (2nd Floor), Room No. 63, Khulna Metropolitan area.

Labour leader and Khulna district JSD leader M A Sabur will preside over the programme. JSD central leader and Bir Muktijoddha Advocate A F M Mohsin will attend as the chief guest.

Special guests include Bir Muktijoddha Principal Abdul Khaleq, President of Khulna District JSD, while Bir Muktijoddha Prosenjit Dutta will deliver the keynote speech.

Professor Habibur Rahman, Monsur Ahmed and other leaders from different professional backgrounds are also scheduled to participate in the discussion.
