Tamim Iqbal elected as BCB President

After serving as the President of the ad hoc committee for two months, Tamim Iqbal has been elected President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

On Sunday at the BCB office in the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, he first won the post of Director by a huge vote.

Then the former cricketer was elected President of the BCB by the Directors’ vote.

The casting of vote started from 10:00am and continued till 4:00pm. Then the results were known in the evening.

Of course, there was no need for a vote in the presidential election, Tamim was the only candidate for the post of president.

That is why he is taking charge as the 18th and sixth elected president of the BCB. The Vice-President has been made also on Sunday. He is Fahim Sinha.

Tamim has been elected Director from the Dhaka club category.

Masuduzzaman, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khosru, Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed, Shanian Taneem, Fahim Sinha, Yasir M. Faysal, Asif Rabbani, Dr. Sarker Mahbub Ahmed Shamim, Sakeef Ahmed Salam also won from this category.

A total of 16 people contested from the club category. 12 people were elected as Directors. Tamim Iqbal received the highest 73 votes.

Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khosru received the second highest 72 votes each.

Then Masuduzzaman received 70 votes and Yasir M. Faysal received 68 votes.The first vote was cast 35 minutes after the voting started.

This election was very calm. There was even more silence in the district division category! Because 7 directors had been determined in advance.

However, the election was held in several divisions. In Khulna division, there were three candidates.

Among them, Shantanu Islam Sumit and Shafiqul Alam were elected directors.

On the other hand, Mizanur Rahman won between two candidates in Barisal division.

Previously, Sylhet Divisional Sports Organization Councilor Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, Bogura District Sports Organization Councilor Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto, and Thankurgaon District Sports Organization Mirza Faisal Amin were elected unopposed.

Sayeed Bin Zaman and SM Abdullah Al Fuad were elected from Dhaka Division. Minhajul Abedin Nannu from Chittagong Division and Moin Uddin Chowdhury from Lakshmipur District Sports Association.
