NRBC launches training for entrepreneurs
NRBC Bank PLC, under the guidance of the SME and Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank, has launched a month-long Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme in Dhaka to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity.
The initiative is part of the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP), financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance.
Twenty-five aspiring entrepreneurs are participating in the training to build practical skills for their ventures.
The inaugural ceremony took place on Thursday at NRBC Bank’s Human Resource Training and Development Centre (HRTDC).
Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, officially inaugurated the programme.
Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, Managing Director and CEO of NRBC Bank PLC, presided over the event.
Special guests included Md Masum Billah, Additional Director and Project Director of Bangladesh Bank; Md Ayub Ali, Joint Director and Deputy Project Director; Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of NRBC Bank; and Md Romjan Ali Bhuyan, Head of SME-Business, Micro and Agri at NRBC Bank.
Addressing the participants, Husne Ara Shikha underscored the need to develop skilled, innovative entrepreneurs to drive national economic growth.
She noted that the government aims to create jobs for 10 million people, with Bangladesh Bank supporting this goal through entrepreneurship training programmes.
She added that trained entrepreneurs will be able to access financing through commercial banks to establish and expand their ventures.
Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, said the programme will give young entrepreneurs knowledge, financial support, and practical training.
The month-long course will equip participants with hands-on skills in business plan development, financial management, marketing strategies, and the management of innovative ventures.
Bangladesh Bank and NRBC Bank have jointly conducted similar training programmes across districts to promote local employment and nurture new entrepreneurs.
