Metro rail night service extended

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has decided to extend metro rail operating hours at night by 20 minutes to improve passenger convenience. The new schedule will come into effect from next Sunday.

Under the revised timetable, an additional trip will be introduced on MRT Line-6.

The last train from Uttara North station to Motijheel will now depart at 9:50 PM, while the final train from Motijheel to Uttara North will leave at 10:30 PM.

At present, the last services depart at 9:30 PM from Uttara North and 10:10 PM from Motijheel. With the new adjustment, both services will operate 20 minutes later than the current schedule.

Md Ahsan Ullah Sharifee, Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) of the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-6), confirmed the decision, saying that the change has been made in response to passenger demand and includes an additional trip, effectively extending night service hours.

The country’s first metro rail under the Dhaka Metro Rail began operations on December 28, 2022 on the Uttara North-Agargaon section.

The service was gradually expanded, and full operations on the Uttara-Motijheel route started on December 31, 2023. Construction work of Kamalapur station is still ongoing, which will complete the MRT Line-6 corridor once operational.
