Bangladesh lose to China in Junior Asia Cup

Bangladesh had a lead. But in the end, they could not maintain that lead. As a result, the Bangladesh U-20 men’s hockey team lost to China 2-3 goals in their first match of the Junior Asia Cup.

Bangladesh’s next match in the group stage is next Sunday, against Malaysia.

Bangladesh started the match well on Friday at the Moqi Training Ground in China. Wang Yubo scored a goal from a penalty corner in the 6th minute.

A minute later, Bangladesh equalised with a field goal from Johnny Islam.

Mehedi Hasan’s field goal in the 26th minute made the scoreline 2-1. But the youth could not maintain that gap due to a defensive mistake. Qiu Wenxuan levelled for China with a goal from a penalty corner in the 44th minute.

China took the lead for the first time in the match with a field goal from Sun Jingran in the 53rd minute.

In the end, that goal became the fate of the match.
This is the ninth time Bangladesh are participating in the Junior Asia Cup.

The youth men’s hockey team’s highest success in this competition was in the semi-finals in 1996.

Bangladesh are in Group-B along with Pakistan, China, Malaysia and Kazakhstan.
