14 livestock killed in lightning strikes in Moulvibazar
Thirteen cows and one buffalo were killed in separate lightning strikes in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar on Wednesday. The incidents occurred in Kuchai Jholai and Pathartila villages under Goalbari Union of the upazila.
According to locals, 13 cows belonging to a tea worker’s family were grazing in a field when they were struck by lightning and died on the spot. In a separate incident, a buffalo was also killed by a lightning strike in the Pathartila area.
The affected families have suffered significant financial losses as a result of the natural disaster. The livestock were among their primary sources of income, and their sudden loss has dealt a severe blow to their livelihoods.
Local representatives and residents expressed sympathy for the affected families and called for government assistance. They emphasized the need for prompt support to help compensate the losses suffered by these poor and hardworking families.
